Mr. Molière, along with Mr. DongRang, is one of my most beloved teacher who taught me Pansori and Sandaenori. When there was a MoliÈre festival at Drama Center in 1972, in remembrance of his death 300 years ago, Mr. Dongrang told me to work on Mr. MoliÈre's LES FOURBERIES DE SCAPIN (The schemings of Scapin) and transform the play into Sandaenori, one of Korean traditional form of play. That is how I could do an extensive reading on Korean Classics of play and turned LES FOURBERIES DE SCAPIN into "Seudduginori" and accomplished one of the most significant achievements in my life.

Humor, or good jest, is a source of one of the most cherished spirits of Korean people and in that sense,

MOLIÈRE's plays and humor in them are such precious values to us. I believe that that is exactly why

Mr. ÉRIC VIGNER put so much effort in delivering the original play into Korean traditional movements and sounds, so that we may see the likeness of humor in both countries was first shown.

After its success in France last year, the play is now reviving in Korea, celebrating the 120th year of Korea-France relations. It is time for us to greet Mr. MOLIÈRE with a big laughter and see him living with us today through tonight's performance.
